Low Cost Feline Spay/Neuter Services in Venango County

If you do not have access to the internet, you may call the front desk at the shelter: 814-677-4040.

The booking process online is quick and easy. Once you have successfully registered yourself and your pet online, you will be able to view a list of available appointments from which to choose.

Our Base Package Includes:

  • Physical examination by our veterinarian
  • Full course of pain medication
  • Nail trim
  • 1-Year Rabies Vaccine and certificate
  • Tattoo indicating they’ve been spayed/neuter

Payment is due through PayPal at the time of booking. A successful booking will lead to a confirmation email, which will give you all the information you need to know regarding your appointment.

Drop-off times for booked appointments are Tuesdays from 8:30 – 9am, and pickup is from 3 – 5pm unless otherwise directed. We urge you to please have all cats in their own carrier, so if you’re booking two cats, please use two carriers. If you need to borrow a carrier, just call us.

At surgery drop off, we now offer the option to purchase other services:

  • FVRCP intranasal vaccine – $20 (1-year vaccine unless cat is less than 16 weeks old, which requires a booster in 4 weeks)
  • FIV/FeLV test – $40
  • Topical flea/tick/deworm/ear mite treatment – $25 (applied at appt)
  • Oral dewormer – $15 (2 doses- first dose given on surgery day, second dose sent home)
  • Microchip and registration – $10
  • Hernia repair or cryptorchid neuter – $50

On the morning of your cat’s surgery, one of our employees will greet you at the counter to fill out an authorization form and allow you to choose which optional services, if any, you want completed at your appointment. Charges for any additional services will be due at pick up. All public cats are housed for the day in a room separate from our shelter cats.

Our veterinarian will complete a physical examination on each patient with the assistance of our veterinary tech. Each patient receives a report card, noting any abnormal findings of the examination. Occasionally, a patient will be too sick to undergo surgery, so the veterinarian will recommend full-service care and rescheduling. Regularly, patients will have ear mites, and we offer treatment for those, too. If anything alarming is found, we will call you to discuss. After qualifying for surgery, each patient receives a dose of pain medication and injectable sedation.

During surgery, each patient is connected to anesthesia monitoring equipment, receives heat support, as well anesthetic gases through intubation (females) or mask (males). After surgery, each patient receives a small, green, linear abdominal tattoo, which is the universal symbol in cats for reproductive alteration. Vaccines and other treatments are administered at this time.

As the patient leaves the surgery suite, the veterinary tech wraps them in a towel cocoon and they are observed carefully during the recovery process. At discharge, owners receive patient vaccination certificates, examination report cards, and receipt of services.

As community interest in the program continues to grow, it is our intention to accommodate more patients per week. Our goal is to provide a consistent, lower-cost, high quality option for feline spay/neuter in the area.

Why not dogs, you ask? We simply do not have the space to accommodate them.
